In the UK FREESAT and SKY are transmitted from the Astra satellite. If you want to be able to receive satellite TV you’ll need to have a clear line of sight between the Astra satellite and your satellite dish installation.

If you stand near the where the satellite dish will be installed you can look in this direction to see if there are any major obstacles such as buildings or hills. You also have to look slightly up, at 25° above horizontal if you’re able to measure it. Anything in the way can mean you won’t be able to get satellite TV.
